On September 17th/18th, 2025, the European Works Council (EWC) of Siemens Energy started its second term with the constituent meeting in Duisburg. 28 delegates from 14 countries (Germany, UK, Denmark, Spain, Sweden, Austria, France, Hungary, Portugal, Norway, Czech Republic, Italy, Netherlands and Belgium) participated.
The delegate from Croatia took part in the meeting as guest, because the election process in Croatia is still ongoing. The delegates from Romania and Poland were missing, because their election processes had also not been completed.
The meeting was preceded by a training day for all delegates, held by the European Trade Union Institute for Research (ETUI). The EWC delegates visited the apprentice shop of the turbine factory in Mülheim and the compressor factory in Duisburg.
In her welcome speech, Nadine Florian (Germany), the chairwoman of the EWC, welcomed the EWC delegates, especially the new ones, and described the global situation of the company. She also mentioned the difficulties with safety standards at some locations, especially from the wind power business. This is in the focus of all employee representatives, but also of the management. Improvements have already started, initiated by the employee representatives.
The Select Committee of the EWC was re-elected unanimously. It consists of Nadine Florian (Germany) as chairwoman, Robert Kensbock (Germany) and Johannes Kopp (Austria) as deputy chairmen, Jens Sörensen (Denmark) and Rebeca Ribes (Spain). He emphasized the excellent work of the EWC of Siemens Energy and the intense cooperation of the EWC delegates with their national unions. He also mentioned the ongoing attempts to finalize the conclusion of a Global Framework Agreement for Siemens Energy.
Robert Kensbock gave a report on the achievements of the employee representation and the situation of the company in Germany. Jens Sörensen, Johannes Kopp and Rebeca Ribes gave reports from their regions. The delegates completed the reports with their remarks. Many local issues were brought up.
On the second day of the meeting, the representatives of the management took part in the meeting.
Mr. Holt, labour relations director and member of the executive board of Siemens Energy, gave a report on the situation of the company. He mentioned the various sites of Siemens Energy, which are now being expanded because of the positive economic development. The backlog of the company is very high. There are still remaining problems in the wind power business.
The EWC delegates discussed their questions with Mr. Holt and Mrs. Schulte-Kutsch, the head of HR.
Mrs. Schulte-Kutsch agreed to support a solution for the open questions concerning the collective agreement for the employees of the wind power business in Italy, which are pending since a long time.
Mr. Arora and Mr. Doyé informed about the latest program of the management for the company, which is named “Watt”, and the development of the regional hubs in Europe. The delegates discussed the management measures with the management representatives. Mr. Rollmann informed the EWC delegates about the application of Artificial Intelligence at Siemens Energy.
